Role Summary: Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £25,000 to £35,000 per annum, experience dependant.
Location: Hybrid and flexible working arrangement, with home working and in our Northallerton or Otley offices. Some travel to other sites.
Contract: Permanent, full-time, 40 hours per week.

Due to our continued steady expansion, we have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our multi discipline workforce.

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who can effectively and efficiently carry out duties on assigned projects and who can work effectively with project team members, client stakeholders, designers, and other involved parties. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in Quantity Surveying and will ideally have previously worked in a Construction setting. You will use your Quantity Surveying knowledge of best practice to manage projects through their entire lifecycle, preparing estimates, cost plans and tender documentation using various forms of measurement and contracts, administer and provide advice on contracts, typically the JCT and NEC forms of contract as well as working with the other disciplines who are part of Align’s multi-discipline workforce.

We are looking for a Quantity Surveyor who is proficient in measurement for Schedule of Works and Bills of Quantities production, who can price and prepare monthly financial cost reports and cashflow forecasts throughout the period of a contract and who can attend site meetings, and provide input and support to the project.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working for a Local Authority or Public Sector employer but we will consider applicants who have exclusively worked in the private sector.

To be successful in this position, you will be able to demonstrate the following essential skills and qualifications:

  • Degree educated in Quantity Surveying or other relevant qualification
  • Professional Qualification: RICS Qualified MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor or equivalent or working towards.
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry standard forms of contract, typically JCT and NEC.
  • Pre and post contract knowledge.
  • Experience of cost forecasting and reporting, cost control, cost risk management, advising on procurement options, procurement documentation preparation, contract documentation preparation, contract administration and contract documentation.
  • Experience of working in the education, health and housing.
  • Good general commercial awareness.
  • Good team player.
  • Able to act on own initiative.
  • Willingness to travel/Full clean UK driving licence.
  • Good command and communication of oral and written English
