About the team?

The GWR performance team is the custodian of train service performance across the GWR network. Our role is to lead our colleagues to achieve agreed industry performance targets and optimise train service performance through an intelligent and insightful strategy, based on the available data (including maximising new technology) and executed in partnership with the frontline delivery teams across our business and industry partners.

About the job?

The Regional Network Delivery Manager role, is the senior regional lead and representative for the GWR Performance team. Providing support, direction, and governance to support our key stakeholders and functions improve performance across many areas and workstreams.

The role will work collaboratively to deliver solutions that will enhance key performance areas in GWR and support train service delivery. Building strong relationships with stakeholders across the route and industry and providing a positive culture towards performance improvement planning (PIPs) and delivering the required strategy.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • The senior regional lead, representing the GWR performance team, responsible for network delivery and performance improvement.
  • Engaging and working in collaboration with key stakeholders to deliver good performance for our customers and meeting the required targets.
  • Ensuring the key deliverables of train service performance are being managed proactively and following up any key issues promptly.
  • Oversee and support functional performance improvement plans (PIPs), delivering the required strategy and leading key workstreams or projects on behalf of the performance team.
  • Solving complex problems, bringing multiple functions and subject matter experts together, to resolve issues promptly in a sprint style format.
  • Provide outputs and information to wide ranging audiences, using data to translate often complex problems, that will engage with colleagues to deliver solutions.
  • Working across multiple forums, workstreams and working proactively with multiple stakeholders to improve performance across a varied field of activity.

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • An understanding of railway operations.
  • The ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver performance improvement through many workstreams and formats.

About the location?

The role will focus on railway operations in the Thames Valley and will require meeting attendance at Paddington, Slough, Reading and Didcot (TVSC).

The role will also cover the North Downs Railway to Gatwick Airport and Severn & Solent Railway services to Portsmouth from Warminster and to Weymouth from Castle Cary so will involve some time at Basingstoke WICC, plus visits to signal boxes and panels at Eastleigh, Salisbury, Dorchester, and Havant.

Working Pattern?

There will be occasions when early or late shifts will be required along with weekend working to visit locations, observe train service performance or support your region with special events.
