Within our Risk and Brokering Insurance Consulting and Technology team, we are setting out to revolutionize the way the global Insurance market conducts its business today, to create more efficient ways of working and a better solution to placing risk, reducing costs and transforming the way we operate in the broker- insurer value chain. Working as part of a team to establish a new way of Digital Trading within the Global Insurance Industry, you will work collaboratively with the Head of Neuron and your peers to support both the set up and subsequent rapid growth journey of a new part of WTW, winning new customers and expanding into new markets internationally.

You will define and deliver the Data Strategy during all stages of the business development. You must be an excellent leader able to manage key relationships both internally and externally and build effective teams across multiple locations in order to deliver the required commercial growth for the business. This role represents a great opportunity for a talented commercial individual to play a key part in the development of an ambitious and growing business.

The Role

You will:

• Work with the Product Leadership Team, to understand data solution needs
• Build up our Data Engineering capabilities across the wider team
• Analyse and articulate data solutions business requirements and analytic use cases
• Conceptualize client data programs including data strategy, technical solutions, and recommended initiatives to meet the customer’s business objectives and use cases
• Advise Product Management of a diverse set of product and vendors in the data management space (e.g Snowflake, Mulesoft, Teradata, Hadoop, PowerB1 etc)
• Design solutions to work with client data solutions including data warehouses, data lakes, operational data stores, data models, integration architectures and business intelligence/analytics solutions
• Provide security leadership, understanding and experience of data security including an understanding of regulation, experience in designing and delivery of data solutions with security in mind from the outset
• Foster and cultivate highly effective working relationships both internally and externally with all stakeholders and relevant third parties
• Inspire an inclusive culture where everyone is empowered to perform at the highest level, and create an agile, responsive, customer and service focused team

• Recent, hands on experience implementing data management and/or analytics solutions on cloud platforms (preferably Microsoft Azure but knowledge of platforms such as Snowflake would be beneficial)
• Recent, hands on experience of design, setup, and implementation of the infrastructure elements of a data platform
• Experience in the architecture, techniques, and tools to support various data integration designs
• Well versed in data architecture approaches to ingest, model, and serve data from various sources including core business/ finance systems, ERP, CRM, and HR systems. Actual tooling may include Azure Data Factory or Data bricks as an example.
• Experience utilising the various non structured and structured storage and database solutions native to the cloud providers with an emphasis on DWH technologies (e.g., Redshift, Synapse, Snowflake).
• Strong knowledge of data modelling and data architecture for modern data platforms including temporal tables, normal forms, and slowly changing dimensions
• Experience of developing compelling and effective product value propositions through the various stages of development and business growth to include analysis of options and recommendations of targeted markets and lines of business
• Experience of applying creative thinking to strategy, problem solving, and decision making and inspiring this in others
• Ability to flourish in a lean entrepreneurial set-up, fulfilling a broad hands-on role
• Ability to thrive and execute in a complex, highly matrixed, global environment
• Ability to be both detail-oriented & consider ‘bigger’ picture, dependent on the situation, leading a multi-functional team and manage prioritization of deliverables
• Clear and effective communicator at all levels and ability to challenge and influence at Board, exec and senior external stakeholder level
• Comfortable with decision making in the face of uncertainty and effective in delegation
• Experience of US/UK and other Global markets

• Other high desirable skills are:-

• Prior hands-on web-based technical experience with Python / .NET/C# technologies and tools,
• Appreciation of current and emerging technologies along with their potential benefits and limitations,
• General knowledge of the Insurance Industry
• Degree-educated with Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or relevant discipline
