As a Process Scientist you will play a vital part in providing continuous support and improvement and you will provide a technical support service to sites under a geographical or specialist area of responsibility including operation of processes (sludge, wastewater, waste management or R&D), implementing operating methods, monitoring and optimisation of quality and performance. Includes investigating, advising upon and implementing corrective actions to ensure compliance (legal, health and safety, regulatory) and the smooth running of plants and sites.

You will provide advice and assistance across the business on operation, optimisation, and investment needs of existing and new assets to improve wastewater quality and efficiency of treatment processes. Act to always protect the environment.

You will be:

  • Hardworking, proactive, a very good communicator and willing to learn
  • Ideally experienced in technical roles related to water quality/treatment science/engineering WWT (Waste Water Treatment) scientific qualification is ideally but not essential
  • Dealing with regulatory requirements regarding WTW permit compliance
  • Solving operational and technical issues which are complex and sometimes not clear cut
  • Solving problems involving processes and people and problems that are site specific and may be occurring across sites
  • Responding quickly to changing business needs and prioritise workload according to deadlines
  • Analysing data, processing, mapping and auditing
  • summarising technical issues to non-technical audiences, communicate effectively and concisely (both written and verbally) with a wide range of stakeholders, internal and external

Your core responsibilities will be:

  • To monitor and optimise the operation of the WTW and downstream assets to ensure that the quality of final effluent that enters the watercourse continues to meet all internal and statutory requirements
  • To undertake detailed investigations and analysis on the root cause of final effluent quality compliance failures and incidents and produce reports with recommendations for remedial actions and continuous improvement based on best practice
  • Undertake regular site visits and carry out complex and/or impactful decisions on process performance and take action to improve
  • Taking personal responsibility for health and safety of self and colleagues
  • Has collective accountability for effluent/product quality alongside other staff on site
  • To take part in activities to raise the profile of Wastewater process across the business

You will need to have a full driving licence and access to a car

This is a permanent full time role working Monday to Friday’s and once fully trained there will be requirement to participate on a standby rota.

You will receive a salary of up to £28,941 per annum depending on skills and experience as well as other benefits!
