The Sensory Team is a countywide team. The
vacancy is in the Northallerton – Hambleton/Richmondshire area but you could be
asked to work in other parts of the county if needed. Office base is negotiable
plus home working.

We are looking for a Communicator Guide to join our
highly reputable, countywide Sensory team. Deafblindness or dual sensory loss
is a combination of sight and hearing loss. It affects an individual’s ability
to communicate, access information and get around. So, whether you are
looking for your first step on the career ladder or have a wealth of experience
and are looking for something new, we want to hear from you!

What are we looking for?

  • You
    will provide support to Deafblind people, promoting wellbeing,
    independence, choice and control.
  • You
    will support people with social contact and access to services
    • You
      will support people to access information in a way that is accessible for them
    • You
      will work in ways which maintain personal dignity as well as maximising
      individual potential.



    • You will enable two-way communication with
      other people, access to information and support people with aspects of
      mobility related to their sensory need.
    • Experience of British Sign Language and
      working in a supporting role is essential, as is a commitment to undertake
      further training to develop competence in working with Deafblind people.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability
      to work in close partnership with a variety of teams and agencies,
      including Prevention Teams, Voluntary and Independent Sector, Health and
      with families/carers
