Chelmsford Theatre has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join the team within our busy regional venue in the heart of Chelmsford.

Now is a significant time to join us, following a recent front of house refurbishment project and a rebrand that has refreshed the theatre’s identity.

Since it’s reopening in January 2023 and welcoming new and returning customers, Chelmsford Theatre is a vibrant and exciting place to work with a strong brand, an evolving programme, a budding new café and a focus on the community, putting the customer at its heart. This role has been created due to a comprehensive and varied programme and will be an important part of shaping Chelmsford Theatre’s future.

This role requires a enthusiastic and focussed individual who thrives in a collaborative environment with a passion for theatre and the arts. Previous experience across multiple technical disciplines is essential as well as having competency in lighting, sound, flying, stage management and relevant health and safety legislation.

Training opportunities will be available, if required. The successful applicant will possess excellent communication skills, a flexible attitude and be organised and motivated with the ability to effectively analyse problems and prioritise workload. This is a full time position on an annualised hours contract with evening and weekend work.

As part of our accreditation with Essex Family Friendly Employers Charter, this full-time role can be offered on a job share or part-time basis, providing we are able to recruit to the remaining hours. Should this be of interest to you please state so in your personal statement. Further information on the family friendly charter can be found: https://www.essex.gov.uk/family-friendly-charter/family-friendly-employer-principles

Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment vetting which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service process.
