North Yorkshire Councils Adult Learning and Skills Service delivers life changing programmes to individuals aged 19+ across the whole region. We are looking to appoint a Lead Tutor for Community Learning and Family Learning (two different posts) to work with our Curriculum Manager and support our team of Adult Education Teachers.
Working across County we are looking to appoint the following Lead Tutors:
Community Learning and Family Learning
The hours are 10 hours per week and this is an annualised hours contract.
The role will include:
Developing schemes of work and lesson plans that plan and record that learning has taken place in each session.
Work within a team to source, write, share and develop e-learning and paper-based materials for programmes, including generating original and tailored material to meet the needs of individual learners, in particular where they have additional support needs
Co-ordinate the team to organise and carry out initial and diagnostic assessments to determine the appropriate level for the learner to work at and ensure they receive adequate support and guidance to follow an appropriate programme of learning.
Agree realistic targets with learners, collaboratively assess and record the progress and achievements of all learners, providing regular, constructive and appropriate feedback to enable them to progress and manage their own learning
Prepare learner files for and/or internally verify qualifications and submit for external verification
Supporting the Curriculum Manager to monitor attendance and take appropriate action to encourage learners to attend regularly and complete the programmes, accessing support and following service procedures where necessary.
Support the Curriculum Manager with the internal moderation process
Be part of the team that carries out observations of Teaching and Learning (OTL)
Integrate transferable skills, including English, Maths and Digital skills, where possible into teaching within designated area
Use and promote online learning platforms
Provide information, advice and guidance throughout programme, including early career planning, funding and other progression advice to current and potential new learners as required
Deliver high quality teaching, learning to groups as specified on agreed timetables
Supervision and direction of tutors, volunteers or teaching assistants
The Lead Tutors will form part of a team and must ensure we are embracing and delivering to our new strategy with enthusiasm and experience and our learners are always at the heart of our delivery.
