An exciting opportunity to join the Medicine divisional management team to manage, lead and develop the strategic plan for Professional Development, Education and Workforce within the division. The support in practice and development of our teams forms a fundamental part of the division’s recruitment and retention strategy.
The post holder will work closely with the Divisional Nurse, Deputy Divisional Nurse and divisional leadership team to provide optimum quality and experience of care in line with national healthcare standards.
Medicine is the largest inpatient Division at NUH supporting over 35 wards and one of the largest Emergency Departments in the UK. We have a budget of £287 million and employ over 3000 staff. The Division is organised into three Directorates made up of ten specialties across Queens Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital sites including over 750 inpatient beds with associated clinics and a cardiac surgery unit.

The post holder will lead on the development, implementation and evaluation of educational, continuing professional development and workforce planning to support the division in its mission for “Right Skills Right Place Right Time” with a continual improving trajectory of staff experience, turnover and reduction in nursing vacancies, promoting an underpinning culture of lifelong learning and excellence.
Leading on innovative approaches to developing practice, promoting and sharing best practice, the post holder will horizon scan new ways of working and delivery of education to maximise the effectiveness and efficiency of all education and training programmes. This will include various methods from Clinical Academic careers to experiential learning tailored to the holistic needs of our people; this will be achieved by the operationalising of the organisations workforce & talent management strategy. Continuing our journey on making Medicine division the “place of choice to work.
The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership and be highly visible and accessible to staff, students and other learners.
