This role is responsible for leading the Air Account within the Digital Solutions organisation at Digital Defence Services. The role holder will be required to oversee a multi-discpline team (directly and indirectly) and is responsible for developing and communicating the strategy and plan for this critical account. The role holder will create an appropriate Business Winning environment through substantial market understanding, planning, positioning and the development of opportunities and capturing business.


The role holder will be a member of the Digital Solutions leadership team and will be required to lead their broader account team in the contribution to business objectives of the Digital Solutions business. Build opportunities for account growth in line with strategy and create improved customer satisfaction and intimacy through the implementation of best practice. Meet objectives in line with the profit and loss plan and drives Order Intake (OI), Revenue and Profit Growth. Drive the strategy and growth for the account in coordination with the Strategic Growth and the Business Management Team.


This role will report into the Digital Solutions Account Director.


Core Duties:

  • Shapes strategy to manage current account relationships across the Digital Solutions’ Air Domain working with Air Command and BAES Air Sector as primary customers.
  • Drives account growth, forges strategies for sales pipeline development and creates improved customer satisfaction through implementation of best practices.
  • Directs a profit and loss plan and drives Order Intake (OI), Revenue and Profit Growth.
  • Responsible for account relations through product and process lifecycle, and coordinates with operational support and sales teams to ensure customer intimacy.
  • Drives the strategic planning for assigned accounts. Leads the quarterly planning and review processes to develop and deliver results.
  • Develops strategy and collaborates across the sector to strengthen account relations.
  • Partners with leaders and teams across the organisation to improve results
  • Directs, manages, develops and oversees budget; ensures activities are appropriately funded, coordinated and managed according to the guidelines/constraints of resource allocations.
  • Oversees and manages expenditures related to business/accounts.
  • Balances cost savings with needs of the department
  • Work with and into broader Business Unit and adjacent accounts across DDS and C5ISR to ensure a single representation of Digital Intelligence to our customers and stakeholders
  • Act as a point of escalation for all issues within the account for internal stakeholders including Delivery
  • Where appropriate holds direct line management responsibilities within the account.


Leaership Responsibilites:

  • Leadership to drive business winning best practice across the capture including setting the strategy and challenge to the team to deliver a winning bid
  • Ability to operate within and influence a senior leadership team within BAE Systems
  • Ability to understand and manage complex stakeholder relationships, and to influence senior Customers and partners (Industry)
  • Ability to establish and monitor clear goals, objectives & KPI’s
  • Ability to define a Account Management strategy and lead others to execute


Functional Knowledge:

  • Extensive Business Winning experience and a substantial understanding of business winning behaviours, processes, procedures and industry best practice.
  • Considerable experience in identifying, creating and developing new opportunities from existing Accounts and driving growth
  • Considerable experience of engaging senior stakeholders, particularly customers, and the ability to build mutually beneficial relationships
  • Significant understanding of how the opportunities the business pursues fits into the business strategy
  • Several years’ experience in frontline business development or programme management roles
  • Significant knowledge of BAE Systems products and services.

  • Proven complex problem solver with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative and strategic solutions
  • Ability to translate Business Strategy into action and create a pipeline of opportunities that can be matured by the business
  • Provide ideas and insightful thought through information/data which helps others to make a decision/reach a solution that best suits the business needs.

Interpersonal Skills:
  • An effective communicator, able to manage messages into multiple audience, with good influencing skills with internal / external stakeholders
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders with a strong customer focus and the ability to build relationships internally and externally.


Qualifications:

  • Experience of understanding and shaping customer requirements
  • Proven at identifying executable opportunities for the business and developing a pipeline for new markets and/or high complexity environments
  • Translating into appropriate solutions and delivering within budget/timescales.
  • Experience of operating within a customer environment
  • Qualified to Degree standard or equivalent
  • Very detailed Account Management/Sales experience
  • Proven at entering new markets
