*Travel to the East Coast is an essential part of the role, therefore a full UK Driving Licence is required*


Who are we looking for?



We have an exciting opportunity within Yorkshire Water for a Coastal Delivery and Engagement Manager. This is a key role ensuring that Yorkshire Water play their part in continuing to improve Bathing Water in Yorkshire.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to work within the Partnerships Team in the Strategy and Regulation Directorate. You will play a crucial role in ensuring we deliver the best bathing water quality to all 19 of Yorkshire's coastal bathing waters.



What will the role involve?


Working with our key partners and stakeholders, Environment Agency, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Scarborough Borough Council and North Yorkshire County Council as part of the Bathing Water partnership, you will also work closely with our North East operations and maintenance teams to ensure Bathing Water assets are maintained and operated to ensure Bathing Water compliance.



In addition, you will work on strategic plans to ensure Yorkshire Water compliance now and into the future.



Key accountabilities of the role include:



  • Delivering regulatory and performance requirements, strive to deliver outperformance against the revised Bathing Water Directive and Bathing Water Quality on Yorkshires bathing beaches
  • Horizon scanning for regulatory changes that will impact bathing waters and understanding changes to performance commitments and business risk
  • Working with, and holding key partners to account in creating and delivering multi-agency action plans
  • Leading on Yorkshire Water’s Bathing Water investment plans to drive continued improvement
  • Own the role of Data Manager for Annual Reporting for Bathing Waters, providing assurance to the business around performance
  • Driving excellent standards and performance in Health and Safety risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with Yorkshire Water's Safety Policy
  • Ensuring that team reporting of activity is in ‘real time’ and drives efficiencies for improvements to asset base by pro-active interventions and planning activity with wider operational teams
  • Where a spill from a Bathing Water Quality/Coastal Asset occurs, checking and reviewing data and supporting any physical inspections and mitigation required
  • Working closely with Asset Management and Operational Teams to ensure performance shortfalls are investigated, understood and supporting mitigation as necessary
  • Ensuring robust financial management and commercial awareness form the foundation for business decision making relating to role goals and targets; this includes management of bathing water budget, finding opportunities for match funding to maximise impact
  • Proactively plan and manage the team to deliver pre-season, mid-season and post season bathing water quality and asset checks
  • Support the delivery of PR24 strategy relating to Bathing Water Quality and asset base
  • Working closely with Corporate Affairs and Central Communication team to manage reputational risk to Yorkshire Water. Additionally, work with communication leads in partner organisations to deliver consistent messages.
  • Ensuring prompt resolution of customer issues relating to coastal issues
  • Provision of technical support and information to Yorkshire Water regarding Bathing Water Quality and directives. This includes investigation all Environment Agency bathing water sample data and assessment of Yorkshire Water assets
  • Working closely with risk and mitigation managers to ensure bathing water emergency plans are kept updated
  • Coordinate activities with inland bathing water manager, to share best practices and ensure business continuity at all times.



What key skills are we looking for?


The successful candidate will have previous experience of working with multiple stakeholders, influencing and driving delivery of performance improvements. You will be confident in leading teams in a dynamic, changing environment.

You will have previous knowledge and experience of Health and Safety management process and systems. You will analyse and interpret data and be comfortable in interrogating corporate reporting systems to report back on bathing water compliance across all levels of the business. You will carry out and support investigations into asset/process failure – identifying failure modes and recommending mitigation/improvements to prevent repeats.

You will have previous water industry experience and knowledge. An understanding of the Revised Bathing Water Directive and the Yorkshire Water Marine Impact model would be desirable.
