Job Description

Scot JCB is a distributor of agricultural and construction machinery from JCB and other manufacturers. Our business activities include sales, service, and parts and we operate from 17 locations around the country. We employ around 300 people including over 100 mobile engineers. Through continual investment in our systems, we are constantly developing our systems to improve operational efficiency and customer service.

The IT Engineer is a key role in supporting all areas of the business and getting best value from our ongoing investments.

Core hours: Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 5pm. Based at our Dennistoun office

Key duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the company’s IT, telecoms, mobile technology, intranet, and document management solutions are operating efficiently and effectively to support the successful operation of our business
  • Manage the relationships with outsourced suppliers of all the above
  • Implement new systems and technology into operational departments
  • Training of new and existing users in correct and efficient use of the systems
  • Ensure IT support systems and helpdesk providers are giving the correct solution for the business
  • Work closely with operational departments to ensure systems are used efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure user devices are set up correctly, maintained and upgraded as necessary
  • Ensure security systems are correctly applied to all users and servers
  • Maintain appropriate back up and disaster recovery strategies

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good computer system skills and ability to implement new computer developments in conjunction with our support partners.
  • Ability to relate to non-IT staff in a productive way
  • Good understanding of modern hardware including pcs, thin clients, mobile devices, and network infrastructure
  • A working knowledge of administering IT operating systems, particularly Windows, Exchange, Citrix, Teams
  • Good understanding of the technical functions of servers and networks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with customers, suppliers and colleagues to solve problems
