The Role
The Invention Worldwide team is responsible for all things innovation and creativity for Mindshare’s global clients (e.g. Unilever, Booking.com, Ford, Campari, Ferrero, Mazda, IHG, Rolex, etc.). We aim to elevate creativity in media by designing media-agnostic ideas; develop thoroughly researched and inspirational thought leadership; and be deep experts in areas of specialisms. These are: partnership, sponsorship & content; influencers & creators; innovation & media futures; and creative media & tech. Our knowledge spans across various areas of culture, with specific focus on gaming, sport, film and entertainment.
We are looking for a mid-weight creative to join our 10+ people strong team, working across Unilever’s global brands e.g. Comfort, Dove, Magnum, Knorr (50%) and all other Mindshare global clients (50%). The candidate will work with two other creative media and tech specialists, a creative production expert, and report into the Joint Head of Invention WW. This role is based in London, with some travel (5-10%).
The Ideal Candidate
- Mid-weight creative, capable of developing media-agnostic ideas
- Preferred experience from a creative team in media agency, digital creative agency, integrated creative agency, emerging tech shop, and/or non-traditional creative background.
- Need to be able to work independently and with other creatives
- Creative skillset spanning from ideation to conception and design of solutions to execution
- A good understanding of the media environment, the role different elements can play, and how they connect.
Essential Criteria
- have brilliant ideas across all types of creative work – from big campaign ideas to content program to tech-driven activation – and across multiple channels.
- understand what good brand content looks like.
- have a passion and curiosity for innovation/technology and know how to build it into their work.
- can create and confidently deliver initial idea presentations for pitch or live project.
- can create and/or brief treatment, storyboard, initial design layout and/or can write original, short & long copy.
- have the knowledge and experience to oversee creative projects from idea to final execution.
- are confident communicating with clients, and developing client relationships
- are collaborative with internal teams, and with our media partners.
- have strong attention to detail and outstanding organisational skills
- expertise developing / making things (i.e. usage of graphic design software) is a bonus
- foreign language is also a bonus
Responsibilities
- Creative ideation & strategy
- Generate media-agnostic creative ideas and be responsible for those end to end, including presenting to clients. These can apply to TV, Cinema, OOH, Radio/Audio, Video, Social, Content, Digital, Influencers, etc. and / or leverage emerging technology (AR/XR, AI, NFT, etc.)
- Partner with client’s creative agencies to translate creative platform / high level concept into creative media and creative tech ideas
- Creative strategy development anchored in media, working hand in hand with global media strategists
- Creative consultancy for media and tech partner production:
- Review and rewrite (if necessary) creative briefs for media and technology partners
- Lead / attend media partner briefings
- Review and give feedback on creative proposals
- Review final assets and approve before delivery
- Creative direction throughout process:
- Create / review treatments, storyboards, initial design layouts
- Create / review treatments, write initial campaign copy and scripts
- Create / review user journeys, and identify related assets, CTAs etc.
- Depending on candidate and project requirement:
- Brief and oversee all copy on content projects
- Brief and direct graphic design and motion design
- Identify production partners and direct them throughout project
- Review final assets and approve before delivery
- Ongoing communication with client throughout project
- Overall development of creative media & tech practice
- Work with client lead and strategy teams to identify creative media & tech opportunities
- Work with wider agency to help bring creativity into everything we do
- Internal promotion of Invention team and work
- Work with Global teams to promote creativity
- External promotion of Mindshare creativity – with clients, conferences, PR etc.
