Role: Service Coordinator

Salary: Circa £34,278 per annum

About the Role:

Action for Children is working in partnership with Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs (SFAD) to develop the Grow Your Own Routes model in the Renfrewshire area. The project has been funded by the Scottish Government's Whole Family Wellbeing Fund, in partnership with the Drugs Policy Division, to deliver 3 Outcomes:


  • Outcome 1: Young people harmed by substance use are visible, have a voice and are empowered to effect change.

  • Outcome 2: Workforce confidence and expertise in co-producing change with young people harmed by substance use is increased.

  • Outcome 3: The impact of alcohol and drug harm on young people and their families is reduced through increased delivery of the Routes practice model across Scotland.

As Service Coordinator, you'll have responsibility for growing and developing this new service which will include the support and supervision of two practitioners and the development of relationships with professionals in the Renfrewshire area. You'll work closely with local schools to encourage referrals into the service and to advertise the service to young people directly. You'll be responsible for monitoring and evaluating the service and work closely with SFAD to ensure their successful model is fully adopted in the Renfrewshire area.


You will make a difference by:

  • Provide a high quality service to children, young people and their families, based on an assessment of need and is outcomes driven.
  • Deliver a complex and specialist interventions with children, young people or families in a group setting.
  • Provide lead case/care planning management, including undertaking assessing, reviewing and managing risks
  • Attend and participate at relevant multi agency meetings, providing a lead role ensuring reflective and analytical practice review
  • Take responsibility for day to day resource planning to ensure high quality services are delivered.
  • Establish and developing effective relationships and channels of communication with children, young people, families, colleagues, community organisations, partner agencies and other external agencies


You will need:

  • SVQ4/HNC or equivalent in youth work, working with families, childcare or another relevant field.
  • Experience of managing and leading a team .
  • Advanced experience of chairing, supporting and contributing to service planning meetings.
  • Experience of the development and practice of community working, including influencing involvement .
  • Ability to lead and develop service implementation plan .
  • Working in collaboration to achieve change within your immediate team and wider multi agency partnerships .
  • Experience of collating and producing reports, capturing and progressing the relevant information for a desired outcome.
  • Competent user of Microsoft office packages.
  • Travel in the community for this role is essential so use of your own transport is desirable.
