What you'll do

The Security Control Centre (SCC) is responsible for responding to alarms from designated National Grid and customer sites. As the UK Physical Security (UKPS) Systems Engineering Manager you will have responsibility for the integrity of our SCC networks, systems and applications.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a team of National Grid and agency staff professionals in the provision of a system engineering function. In particular this will focus upon prioritising the delivery of complex and competing workstreams as well as being the accepted leadership focal point for stakeholders engaging the SE team members. To also include building morale and personal esteem whilst encouraging others to deliver their best performance.
  • Management of commissioning, service and maintenance and associated procurement for all SCC systems and networks
  • Guiding project contractors, both civil and technical, on best practice and suitable components for both hardware and software installations
  • Implementing processes and systems required to deliver services together with communicating and informing personnel on how to utilise the services

What you'll need

Essential. You will possess experience of:

  • Degree, or equivalent experience, in a security discipline
  • Managing a specialist engineering team across dispersed locations.
  • Practical project management skills for the delivery of growth and change programmes
  • Management of operational system services
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to ensure that successful delivery relationships are established and maintained with customers
  • Demonstrable competency in the security of our Information Systems
  • Broad experience within security and IT sectors with demonstrable ability to deliver services in complex environments

Desirable.

  • Working knowledge of Windows OS, virtual environments, software integration, access control and security systems
  • ITIL qualification (or working towards the qualification)
  • IT Security (or working towards the qualification)
