North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is currently one of the newest acute hospital trusts in England, formed on 1 April 2017. The Trust runs Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford & Rutland Hospital. Together they serve approximately 700,000 residents.
The Department of Anaesthesia has 45 Consultants and the work undertaken includes all surgical specialities (except cardio-thoracic/neurosurgery). The total workload is 22,000 operations per annum. There are 2500 emergency cases and 5500 obstetric deliveries. There are both acute and chronic pain services within the department. The hospital has a 16 bedded Critical Care Unit, providing a mix of level 2 and 3 beds.
The posts are for a period of 6 - 12 months initially, renewable by mutual consent, start August 2023. The On Call Anaesthesia Consultant is resident every day between 0800 and 2300 and the On Call Critical Care Consultant is resident between 0800 and 2200hrs.
This post is open to Anaesthesia trainees who hold the Royal College of Anaesthetists' (RCOA) Basic Level Training Certificate (or equivalent). Applicants also need to be competent in Critical Care and have passed the IACOA
