Tool Hire Assistant - Full-time, Permanent - Maldon

Jewson Builders Merchant in Maldon are actively seeking a customer focussed, proactive and organised person to join their team and help in delivering all tool hire equipment and ensuring it is serviced and maintained.

This role will see you assisting customers on the counter and over the phone, working with the Tool Hire Supervisor, driving to different sites to collect/deliver different Tools and Machinery, you will be trained in both Tool Maintenance/Repair and gain a Towing licence (to aid you in transporting larger Tools/Machinery).

Our Ideal candidate would preferably have :

• Multi-drop experience
• Mechanical background would be ideal or
• Experience working with Tools or in maintaining/ repairing tools
• Industry experience
• Full & Clean Driving licence (1 year experience driving)

Hours of work: 7am-5pm Monday to Friday (1 hour lunch break) and 8am-12pm every other Saturday (47.5 hours/week)

Please note: It is essential for this role to have a Full, clean driving license.

What will I be doing?

You will be in regular contact with our Customers and therefore you play a huge part in delivering a fantastic customer experience. In order to support our customers and deliver a great service you will;

• Get to know our product lines and services – with training from us!
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning of our tool hire equipment in the workshop
• Process customer orders and keep customers updated
• Organise tool hire delivery and collection
• Following H&S procedures; Loading and unloading safely and satisfactorily
• Ensuring any technical problems, maintenance faults and repairs are dealt with efficiently
• Make Health & Safety a priority and demonstrate how you can keep yourself and others safe at work
• General Administration – Tool Hire reports and sales order processing

Some Skills that we are after from our applicants :

Essential

• Full, clean driving license (c1e and be) is preferred
• Working knowledge of appropriate Health & Safety legislation
• A relevant understanding of the market and product knowledge
• Able to work on own initiative and as part of a team
• Flexible and enthusiastic attitude
• Demonstrable customer service focus
• Able to create and maintain successful relationships
• Good organisational skills to manage stock

Desirable

• Relevant qualification in wood machinery (City & Guilds , etc)
• GCSEs (Or equivalent) - Maths & English
• Relevant forklift licence
• Experience in a sales/customer focussed role
• IT literate
