An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Storekeeper Clerk to join the multi-disciplinary Tayside Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Technology Services team based within the TORT Centre at Ninewells Hospital.

TORT Services include The Tayside Orthotic Service, Prosthetic Service and the Assistive Technology Service (Wheelchair and Seating). TORT through its constituent specialisations is committed to providing a prompt and clinically appropriate service to enhance the quality of life and independence of people with disabilities through the use of technology.

As a key member of the team the Storekeeper provides an efficient and timely stores operation for all services including orthotic departments at Perth and Stracathro. Daily activities include procurement, organising the physical space, maintaining stock levels, placing orders, processing invoices, and receiving and dispatching goods. As part of a small stores team the post holder will primarily be responsible for supporting the Orthotic and Prosthetic services but will be routinely required to support other services and general procurement activity; requiring a great deal of flexibility.

The successful candidate will have previous experience of storekeeping or warehousing techniques and procedures, preferably with experience as a storekeeper in the NHS. Good computer skills are essential with a familiarity with Microsoft applications and the ability to learn specialist procurement software programmes. Possessing good verbal communication skills and an ability to form working relationships are important to work as an effective team member. The post holder will be able to work autonomously and balance competing priorities. Suitable candidates will strive to achieve value for money and have good negotiating skills for dealing with suppliers.

The post involves manual handling and moving around the department on two levels with loads, using mechanical aids where required. The workplace is an open warehouse environment within the TORT Centre, with daily requirement to work outside for short periods in the loading area.

Competency will be demonstrated through evidence of experience, and formal interview.
